That cage looks pretty sketchy to me. More like an art project than a safety device.

What goes like a C6 Z06 but loosely resembles a C2 Corvette? This Corvette kart built by Stripped Down Street Rods.

The donor car, a 2009 Z06, is purported to have had fewer than 33,000 miles when the build was started and today features a short-throw shifter as well as a refreshed LS7 V8 and Z06 six-speed manual transmission.

The custom headlights and taillights are intended to resemble those on the C2 Corvette, while the interior is fitted with vinyl bucket seats–with four-point harnesses–plus marine-grade carpet and headliner, per the seller.

Anything it may lack in design for the tubing it more than makes up for in quantity ![]()

I was thinking the same thing...any weight it lost in bodywork and interior bits it may have regained in quantity of tubing...
Edit: And at 3116lbs it very nearly did...
Noddaz said:Colin, you are wrong. I do not need that.
I don't know. I think one should be open to acquiring one of those with the expectation that someday soon, you will need it.

Okay, I hear you on that one, but it is certainly...unique, right?
That we can agree on, it is unique!
Unique? Yes. Cool? Yes. 3116 lbs though, for a tube frame car with a questionable cage design? Yikes...
Friend built a kart out of a C5, using the stock floor pan and windshield, and plenty of cage to keep things safe, and it's around 2500 lbs... again, with the stock floor pan.
