Car looks dumped.

We’ve added the parts to make our Hyundai Elantra faster and more reliable within the stock-class rules for One Lap of America: wheels, tires, brakes, alignment, fluids.
[Tick, tick, tick: Getting our Elantra N ready for One Lap of America]
Now it’s time to add the bits that make it look the part: stickers. Plus, stickers make it faster, too, right?
After a second morning of prep was completed, Tom Suddard–our publisher and also one of our One Lap drivers–headed over to see our friends at Side Effects Custom Wraps & Graphics, purveyor of custom vehicle wraps and other signage, including really big stickers. We’ve used this business many times in the past, and the folks there do a fantastic job at a great price.
A white vehicle is the perfect canvas for a unique livery, and we think they nailed it on the head. Big, bold and brassy, this look screams race car.
We left room for the number boards and partner stickers required for the Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports. We’ll grab those at event registration in South Bend a week from today.
What’s next? Tom is driving the car to Road Atlanta to preside over the Mitty this weekend. On Sunday morning, he’ll hand off the Elantra to Andy Hollis, our other team driver.
The Elantra will then hit up the SCCA Track Night in America event at Nashville Superspeedway Sunday evening to shake things down.
Nashville Superspeedway is the first track on this year’s One Lap route, making it the qualifier for the rest of the week’s run order. This determines the grid seeding for the whole week–and it indirectly dictates sleep. The sooner you run each day, the sooner you can reach the next track hotel for some shut-eye.
After Nashville, we’ll have two down days to fix whatever falls off. Then it’s off to Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, Wisconsin, just north of Chicago. Again, we’ll do an SCCA TNiA event to recon what will be the final track on the One Lap of America schedule.

It’s been recently repaved, so we want a preview of the grip level. We’ll also see how much of the curbing can be used–it used to be super rough out there.
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for some driving impressions early next week.

Fingers crossed that the Elantra doesn't leak coolant all over my tires -- which turned out to be the real cause of the earlier drama.

Who's in charge of scrubbing the brake dust off? ![]()
Looking good. Stock up on the wheel cleaner.
I was going to come see you guys at I-29 but with the move to hastings, I'll miss you. Holler if you need anything as you are coming through NE.
