What’s coming for the 2026 Miata? A whole lot of the same.

If ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? That’s the mentality Mazda seems to be taking with its ND Miata that is now in its 11th model year.

However, those are our words, not theirs. They describe their approach as this, “the fourth-generation MX-5 Miata has benefited from the Japanese philosophy of kaizen, with engineers continually fine-tuning the sports car in pursuit of driving nirvana.”

What changed for 2026? Just “targeted updates focused [on] interior refinement.”

What does that really mean? Some enhancements for the MX-5 Miata Club’s Brembo BBS Recaro Package. It now comes with black Alcantara interior trim with light gray stitching and black interior accents, including a piano black lower bezel, as well as black accents on the heater control dial and engine starter ring.

The one other difference from 2025? Pricing increased just a tad. No longer can you get a MX-5 Miata for less than $30,000, with pricing starting at $30,430. The RF now starts at $38,450.

It's 10 years old by model year. It's 11 if you measure by when production started.

If the next Miata was hybridized or battery assisted, how long would the enthusiast "tolerate" a style design over a philosophy change? Could the ND still sell decently if it was a 15 year old design? ND4 or ND5?

I really do not want the Miata to ever go the way the Eclipse did... or the Dart...

I can't really explain it, but Mazda doesn't strike me as a company that would do that. I'd like to think it understands the value the Miata has to its fanbase.

(Please DO NOT prove me wrong, Mazda.)

2016 was the first model year for the ND, so 2026 is it's 11th model year.

NA - 9 years

NB - 8 years

NC - 10 years

ND - 11 years

The ND is now the longest lived (by model years) Miata...

How good is your design when 10 years in it still looks fresh.

Not that it has a lot of competition…

A subject of much debate and angst on Miata.net....
