Sure, there are other cars, but is there anything like an NA or NB Miata? If you think like that, then the Leroy Miata Cup might be your jam.
The series runs eight events among venues in northeastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.
“We started a Miata autocross series four years ago, and it has taken off,” Leroy Engineering’s Jonathan Staggs said. “Most of [the drivers] are new converts who have no previous racing or SCCA experience. The goal of the series was to give the weekend warrior/dreamer everything that the pros have in a race weekend, but on a realistic budget.”
The rules, Jonathan says, “ensure a competitive car can be still street driven every day.” That doesn’t mean they look like how they just left the showroom. Many of the cars have liveries, he says, with matching apparel, too.
