I've attended once or twice as a way to meet up with friends and family coming to the race from out of town before it starts.

See the cars! Meet the drivers!
The IMSA Twenty-Four Premier at One Daytona takes place tonight–as in Wednesday, January 21–just across from Daytona International Speedway at One Daytona. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Why the excitement? A few years ago, I watched Fernando Alonso mingle with fans while waiting for his ride after the event.
No charge to attend. Bring your autograph books, and pack plenty of film.

Update: Looks like I won’t be walking solo tonight.
I just had an epiphany.
2019 would have been the last year I went to the Rolex as a fan and not as a part of my job.
I distinctly remember managing to get in Alonso's autograph line at a really good time–I was nearly first in line.
When he came to sit at the table, there was suddenly a barrage of photographers–professional and amateur–that caught me off guard. (I froze like a deer in headlights. Luckily, the person behind me kindly urged me to move.)
