Oscar Wilde, Irish author and poet, once said, “Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess.” If true, then this must be one of the most successful Nissan 370Z Nismos on the planet.
Thanks to a bespoke twin-turbo setup capable of producing over 30 psi of boost strapped to its VQ engine, explains driver Jonathan Wheeler, the 370Z Nismo can send more than 1000 horsepower to the wheels.
Excessive? Perhaps, but that’s all part of the show:
“While ultimate pace is always the goal,” Wheeler says, “the core of the program remains the same: build something unexpected, engineer it properly, and put on a show, both on track and in the paddock.”
October 22, at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, Wheeler and the 370Z–all 1000+ horsepower of it–will compete in one of the biggest shows on the calendar, the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge presented by Grassroots Motorsports.
The name of the game? We simply seek the fastest track machine on four wheels. And, to that end, the rules are equally simple: Car and driver must just pass a safety inspection.
If you and your car meet those requirements, register today.
Whether it's home-built or factory-bought, it’s welcome to compete. Wide fenders? Big aero? Sequential gearbox? It’s all welcome to compete.
In addition to several prizes and awards to give out, we’ll also be joined by the wildly quick cars of the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge.
The Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge is presented by Grassroots Motorsports in association with Wilwood, Vitour Tire, CRC Industries, Vbox Motorsport and Red Line Oil, with trophies from BimmerWorld, Nine Lives Racing and Falken Tire.
