Shout out to Volvo for consistently making wagons for North America, even if SUVs are much more popular.
Gushing aside, this V60 T5 Momentum is the entry-level trim in the V60 family. That doesn't mean that the T5 is a penalty box, as you still get that unique Scandinavian design language both inside and out–including those awesome plaid seats–as well as the same twincharged inline-four found across the Volvo range, just here without the extra electric motors and all-wheel drive. In this configuration, the powerplant is good for a perfectly usable 250 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque.
The wagon market may be pretty niche, but it's good to know that there are some nice options out there.

This version of the V60 might not be as premium as the T6 AWD, but it’s still a pretty sweet wagon. This one just makes a little less horsepower and doesn’t have the all-wheel drive–that latter of which, to be honest, I didn’t notice lacking.
The V60 excels from the word go: great seats, great touch points, great driving experience. It’s a different feel than a BMW, Audi or Benz, but it’s still pretty upscale. Switches click with authority–they just operate to a different note.
Two more things to love: those plaid seats and real analog gauges. Call both old-school touches that Volvo integrates perfectly.
Volvo’s infotainment system might not be for everyone, but if you think of it as an in-dash iPad, it works.
And then there are the looks: stunning.
I realize this is a short review, but here’s the take-home message: If looking for a premium estate, the V60 should be on the short list.

I've seen a few of these recently and keep thinking it's a V90. That is a good thing.
I really wanted to test drive and possibly purchase a V60 (non Cross Country trim) about six months ago, but the local dealers won’t carry them. They will happily order one for you, but without having a chance to extensively test drive one, that was a “nope” for me. So, the GTI soldiers on in my garage instead.
Given where we are at now economy wise, I guess that was a blessing in disguise.
Dispite being in a smallish burg with a Volvo dealer, I've seen exactly one of these. Too bad, they are gorgeous.
And yes, mmmm, European wagons! I was fortunate to have a 2006 E350 wagon for a few years. Wow, what a car. Hated to get rid of it.

Yes, this is a lovely car.
I chased down David at the Challenge on my BMX bike to check that thing out. I hadn't been keeping up on modern Volvos, but that thing looked amazing! It had the plaid seats too. I was still creeping on it back at the hotel and took some pics.
