The last time the Supra said goodbye, it was for way too long. When the legendary A80 Supra bowed out of the U.S. market after the 1997 model year, Toyota had made no announcement that it would return–and had no public plans for another car to fill its slot.

But the world didn’t care, and the legend of that car and …

Originally, this caused a lot of consternation among some enthusiasts. Cries of “But it’s just a rebadged BMW” and “It’s NoT a ReAL SUPRa” rang out, as though two of the world’s most driver-centric car companies teaming up for a halo sports car was somehow bad and would create an undrivable mess.

This perfectly summed up my feelings when the Supra was first unveiled.

That said, it seems like most people have accepted the Supra. (Especially after it was offered with a manual wink)

Prices have started to come down. A few months ago, I've seen dealers asking $90K for these cars. Now they're down to $74K - still a good chunk of change, though.

These cars still fascinate me as a former BMW junkie. Z4s were almost always outclassed. Who would have guessed that Toyota would help BMW to build the best BMW.

Any accounts of how they’ve held up in terms of reliability at this point?

The last photo with the rear of the car, I think from that angle it is just too... busy? Nice looking otherwise.

And I have also heard horror stories about BMW saying to go to Toyota for service, and vice versa.

I would like to see a comparo of the regular 2026 supra and Final edition on a track. I ran both 2026 premium and final edition at a local autox and I was faster in the regular premium. Same day, same course, same tires, same tire pressure, both cars 100% stock automatic cars, and both under 2k miles and I was 0.7 sec faster in the premium back-to-back. Seems like the final edition is built around stickier tires, as it tended to understeer in hard braking and turn-in. Perhaps this was due to large brakes and maybe some interesting ABS side effects.

Great article. We've had ours for almost a year and really enjoy it.

On wind buffeting...there is paint/sticker package on about 300 of the Final Edition cars (red mirror caps etc).  One of the items on that car is a small set of wind deflectors that sticky tape onto the car.  Some smart person online uncovered the part number. I grabbed a set. They are $8 each from the Toyota dealer and the effect they have in reducing wind buffeting is nothing short of miraculous.  Part numbers for any fellow supra owners...

LH 61198-14010 FR VENTILATOR, LH

RH 61197-14010 FR VENTILATOR, RH

There are copious aftermarket solutions but a $16 set of factory parts is the high value option.

“Final Edition”?

Disappointing.

Real missed opportunity here to use the name Supra Freak.

I love when actually useful factory parts are bargain priced. See also the Porsche brake vents.

Wow wtf.

BMW: “It’s a Toyota”

Toyota: “It’s a BMW”

That sounds like a special kind of hell.
