Grassroots Motorsports Tech Editor J.G. Pasterjak and Tire Test Editor Andy Hollis discuss our top three picks–in no particular order–for 2026: Yokohama Advan A052, Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RZ and Vitour Tempesta P1 X-01R (X1).

I picked up the VItour P1's last Fall, so just missed the newest model. I autocross, and went with these because we get super hot event days and I'm more concerned about heat soak, which I got with the older Bridgestones RE71 which would make them greasy after a few runs on a hot day.  I run lots of front camber on my Cayman (-3F) and they offered a 255x18 fitment for up front (275X18 on rears) on my Cayman which increases my front contact patch.  So I'll have to see how a full season goes when the temps get over 95 degrees ambient and the course is much hotter.  The couple of autocross events I ran last Fall left me feeling very happy with the setup.  Tons of grip.
