What car to take on a tour? The weather forecast for our Classic Motorsports Orange Blossom Tour yielded the answer: The nearly 90° days expected during our upcoming Florida outing said to take something fast, comfortable and reliable.
So we grabbed the Porsche.
We hadn’t driven our 997 Porsche much lately, so we checked all the fluids and tire pressures while filling the tank. Over five days and nearly 1000 miles of driving, we were again reminded just how good this car is at virtually everything.
Short of carrying sheets of plywood, this is absolutely the best car for any task we regularly face. It’s fast, it’s comfortable, the air blows cold. Plus, it gets nearly 30 mpg and stands out in the crowd.
Once we got home, we simply wiped it down and parked it back in the garage. Other than another oil change soon, there’s nothing else on the to-do list. We wish every project car could be this easy and reliable.
